Journaling reads: Although Bob Hope was an actor, entertainer and comedian on both film and television, I remember him most for the time he spent entertaining the military. Beginning in 1943, he dedicated himself to entertaining soldiers, sailors and airmen of the armed forces with his overseas USO tours, which often times took place over Christmas. In 1997, the USNS Bob Hope (AKR 300) was christened by his wife Delores, and is one of few ships named after someone still living. A few months later, the US Navy named a C-17 in his honor. I only recently found out about this exhibit, located beside the Midway Museum in San Diego, and was mesmerized by the detail of all the figures created in bronze by Eugene Daug and Steven Whyte.
