One of the attractions of Taormina's Teatro Greco (Romana). The celestial theater at the end of the Via Teatro Greco was built in the third century BC and the first century heavily rebuilt by the Romans. What we get from the Greek theater so you can see is in fact a Roman construction. The Greeks created a breathtaking view of Mount Etna and the bay, but the Romans hid the panorama behind a series of columns and arches. Since the Romans better with a sword or could handle the pen, they built the theater where once great tragedies of antiquity were performed in a circular arena where gladiators were bloodthirsty each other for life in brutal battles. In July and August, the theater is the place to b for concerts and theaterplays!
