Journaling: You have pretty much always dreaded going to the dentist. It is understandable., you had your first cavity when you were only three years old. We discovered it at your first dentist visit. It was on your front teeth. Dr. Lederman said it was common for young kids to get a cavity on the front teeth from pooling juice there when drinking from a bottle. After that we did well for a long time. You didnt have any cavities. You do a good job brushing your teeth. But you were still apprehensive about going to the dentist.

This past April 2008, I think you were just about over your fear. Unfortunately,, it looks like you have Daddys genes when it comes to your teeth... Dr. Lederman took x-rays for the first time since you had turned five. My heart sank when I found out you had seven cavities all in between your teeth. We havent been doing a good job with flossing. I felt like such a horrible mom.

I know a lot of if you get cavities is heredity. I wish you would have gotten my genes. I dont get cavities. Your dad on the other hand has a mouth full of fillings. I guess it has to do with how thick your saliva is and the acidity. The thicker your saliva the more prone to cavities you are.

Unfortunately all the cavities were on molars so we had to fill them.. You had to go back to the dentist three more times to have your teeth filled: two, two, then three.

You were a trooper. I was so proud of you. You handled it well. It helped that they played a video for you. You watched Ice Age 2, Surfs Up, and Robots. The worse part was the taste of the medicine. Dr. Lederman said you were an excellent patient. She kept trying to set you up with her four year old daughter.

I was instructed after each visit to get you a shake to help the pain. I guess you chewed the side of your mouth a bit from the pain killer.

Your dentist told you no more juice. You have been really good about not wanting to drink it. You only want to eat and drink things that are okay for your teeth.
