Hiker Dog Pg 1

Although this ended up as page 1 of a spread, I love this page as a stand alone page as well as these photos work so well together.

Journaling reads: I am not much of a hiker, but with the winter being so mild warm and breezy; it has been so enjoyable to hike up Twin Peaks. We began by just hiking up to the first bench, but over time, we extended our hike, exploring more of the trails. I loved that Rachel would join us, so, with my camera, I would document our hike as we explored. Rachel had always told me you were quite the rock dog, but I got to see it firsthand. You jumped up rocks I didnt think you could climb, and then when I started to think I would have to think of a way to get you down, you would jump down on your own tail wagging - amazing me so.

After we found out you were sick, we started hiking sometimes twice a day for a few hours each time. You enjoyed it so, and I loved to see you so content. You were definitely in your element!

We will forever remember these special days, and keep in our hearts how much you loved hiking Twin Peaks.

The Process: I took my lead on this layout from the template. The colors of the layers of textures, and stains and paints were modified, setting my foundation for my photos. The beauty of Annas templates are the ability to modify the size and placement of all items on the template, and as soon as I placed my first photo, I knew that I would duplicate that framed, and add a second similar photo, removing all the other frames on the template. With the first frame duplicated, and placed on the right of the page, I added the second photo. The photos were attached to the fotomask. I duplicated the photos, and placed the duplicate photo on top of the frame layer. I masked it out, but then painted back in the areas that I wanted to extend beyond the frames. I then placed the page title, and created a custom path for the journaling so that the text would extend to the edge of the photos and frames. I added the Urban Stitchez, the heart, and the page texture at the bottom. I had begun with a solid neutral cardstock, but at this point decided to use a gradient. I duplicated the background paper, changed it to the pale blue, and then used a gradient mask on it so it gave the appearance of the page going from blue to beige. I added the brads, recoloring them in a gradient blue, and added the page info. I love the soft blues/greens and neutrals that mimic the photos, and am so happy with the result that I created a second page using the frames as is, but flipped the background. BTW, the only change I made to the background layers, besides recoloring was the addition of a brush from AP Joyful (I have fallen in love with the circle brush) I placed on Blend Mode Divide, and lower its opacity.
