I went with Picasso's Don Quixote.

from Wikipedia: Don Quixote is a 1955 sketch by Pablo Picasso of the Spanish literary hero and his sidekick, Sancho Panza. It was featured on the August 18-24 issue of the French weekly journal Les Lettres Franaises in celebration of the 350th anniversary of the first part of Cervantess Don Quixote. Made on August 10, 1955, the drawing Don Quixote was in a very different style than Picassos earlier Blue, Rose, and Cubist periods.

process...
i took the original black and white drawing and layered it over the artsykard. i set the drawing to darken so the layers of the artsykard show through. i moved some of the layers around to better fit the sketch. i added the button and the color. i also decided to add some depth by masking portions of the page to random, shadowed rectangular shapes.
