This past Christmas was the nicest I can remember in years. The temperature in Poway hit at least 80 degrees F. We spent some time at the park, which was filled with all the kids that got Christmas presents like kites, and scooters, and bikes, and remote controlled toys, etc. I came across these photos my friend Megan took of her dd and parents their choice, after opening presents was to take a drive to the beach. Now why didnt I think of that!
Journaling reads: We are not always lucky enough to have wonderful weather on Christmas, but for 2013, Poway was close to 80 degrees, and the beach was still quite nice for December 25th. Cora loves the water, and running in the surf with Grandma and Grandpa. I think us Southern Californians are quite happy without the snow on Christmas Day!

The Process: I had been wanting to use one of Annas new templates for some time, and this group of photos was perfect for it. I love the triangular photo masks and frames it was fun playing around with the various photos to find the best location for each. It made for some interesting photo cropping something I dont do enough of, and I am quite happy with the finished product. Prior to placing the photos, I scaled all of the photo masks and frames down just a bit to allow more of an outside edge. Although Annas new kit is not a beach kit I loved the neutrals, and found it perfect for it. I placed one of the solid cardstock papers as the background paper, and then began adding various transfers. I pulled just a few with blue from various other ArtPlays as well, but I wanted the page to be mainly neutrals. I added a darker cardstock just below all the photos, to serve as a mat and to make them pop a bit more. I then began adding the various elements. I added a few bits of squiggles and sprays, placing them on top of the photos, and used blend mode Divide to reverse them from black to white. I added two of the new Sparkle Edge Overlays, which I have fallen in love with, and added the journaling. Being that this was technically a page of what was done on Christmas, besides the few touches of red, I had to add the Santa, and perch him on the Book Plate, which I used for the page title. I decided I had to use a seashell as well, and placed it just below the Santa.
