As much as I am completely fatigued by the constant work related travel I relish the occasional opportunity to over-weekend on the east coast. This weekend I went to D.C. to get some much needed mother-daughter time. It was a sweltering, humid weekend in the swamp aka our nations capital. Our government was shut down (WTF?) so touring meant looking at monuments from a distance - this is as close as I could get to the new MLK monument. I am so glad I grabbed the moment - I met Ngistes boyfriend Chris (now mom-approved), shared conversation and succor with her friends and just coexisted for a while. Time well spent.
