Journaling reads: Although quite a drive, Bates Nut Farm is a special outing for family activities prior to Halloween. Rachel and I were able to pick our pumpkins right from the fields, go on a hay ride through the farm, listen to live music, and eat some great food. We even browsed through the booths of all sorts of crafts and gifts, and yes, we even bought what the farm is famous for NUTS. Rachel also rode the ponies, had her face painted with a purple dragon, and did some crafts. The drive is what I like the most, however, as it is way up in Valley Center, and it reminds me of the country I grew up in, which is hard to come by in San Diego. The road is windy, and we pass by farm after farm, and even Ostrich Ranches.
