With Dad at the Fair 1949

52 week 22 inspiration "a father's love"
journaling: How these photos got so damaged over the years is puzzling, but they are still whole and full of delightful memories for me. I see the kindness in my father's eyes, the pride he had in each of us kids. I see a hard working farmer who had promised his four children, ages 9, 7, 6 and 4 that they could go to the County Fair, forty miles away, that sunny July day. Now, you have to understand that this was something he would have to do by himself, as our mother had just gotten home from the hospital with our baby brother. Oh, what fun we had that day. We had our pictures taken in the Photo Booth to take home to Mother. Carnival rides and cotton candy, visiting the animal barns and looking at vegetables. Sitting up on big tractors and talking to friends. We were well mannered and stuck close together. Winning prizes and going through the House of Mirrors. There would be many County Fairs in the future, as Dad and Mother worked with us and our 4-H projects, after I turned 10. But for today, in the summer of 1949, it was a Special Time, just with our Dad, that I have never forgotten.
This is marvelous!!! I love the story...I love the way that I feel like I was there. You did a wonderful job with the journaling. I'm heading to the Standing O's to add this!
