These photos on these two pages are from the American Normandy Cemetery. Our guide at the cemetery gave his life story - his parents grew up in a village above the invasion beaches - an American took out a machine gun nest near the village which meant his village was not bombed and destroyed. It allowed his parents who were children to grow up, fall in love, marry and eventually his was born. It was very moving. I hope these two pages can give you a sense of the beauty and serenity.
