I never really think of scrapbooking as being subject to trends and fads, but of course it is. I wonder if, in years to come, I will look at the pages I make these days and say, "Ah, yes! Chevrons/rolled flowers/3x4 journal cards were so popular once!"
And what, pray tell, do such musings have to to with this page? Why, with the title, of course! The title is based on another currently popular trend, the "Keep Calm" trend. You know what I'm talking about--"Keep Calm and fill-in-the-blank On!" I'm actually not crazy mad about this particular trend, but I liked both the cadence of the title words and the juxtaposition of the words "Keep Calm" with the kayakers running into a ginormous fish.
As for the photo, it was taken at a work retreat a few years ago, a retreat that was held in the Sierra Nevada mountains on a small lake not far from Lake Tahoe. On our free afternoon, a handful of friends decided to try their hand at kayaking. The original photo was a bit drab and gray, in keeping with a cloudy late fall afternoon in the High Sierras, and the lake water was so calm as to be boring, so I used Anna's papers and a bit of blending (oh yeah, and a big scary fish!) to jazz it up.
Keep Calm and Scrapbook On!
