Miracle Mouse (AnnaLift 8_10_13)

Here is my take on the latest AnnaLift https://ozone.oscraps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27069. Such wonderful inspiration, Corinne (Cocodou)! https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=291980&title=ballet&cat=1351

The story is this...

I was quite moved by Corrine's page--the delicate silhouettes of the dancers are very appealing. I have no such photos in my stash but I was inspired to try to duplicate the sense of motion. I suppose I could have used a brush of a dancer or perhaps of an athlete (Ooohhh! How about a football player?), but I wondered if I might achieve a motion effect with a mouse. (If you need an explanation for why my unruly mind went in that direction, see avatar, see username. :) ) After that it was all downhill. :) See, because then I started thinking, well, how might I show a mouse in motion? Easy--just add a shadow and move it far away from the mouse so that the mouse looks like she's jumping. Sure, mice can jump pretty high (don't ask me how I know these things), but suppose I wanted to show sustained motion--how would I do that? After all, mice can't fly, but hey! How about if the mouse was being lifted up by balloons? A little motion blur and here we are--a defacement of Corrine's wonderful page. :)

There really is nothing like scrapping just for the fun of it to lift (um, no pun intended!!) your spirits, but I wonder if letting you all in on my thought process is too much information...it can be pretty scary in there! :)

Oh, and the quote is one taken from a poem by Walt Whitman, "Song of Myself." The line I used is from one of my favorite stanzas in this poem, in which Mr. Whitman celebrates the miracle that can be found in the ordinary everyday:

"I believe a leaf of grass is no less than the journey-work of
The stars,
And the pismire is equally perfect, and a grain of sand, and
The egg of the wren,
And the tree-toad is a chef-d'oeuvre for the highest,
And the running blackberry would adorn the parlors of heaven,
And the narrowest hinge in my hand puts to scorn all machinery,
And the cow crunching with depress'd head surpasses any
Statue,
And a mouse is miracle enough to stagger sextillions of
Infidels."
