i started with artsy layered template no.65. i clipped my photo to most of the layers. some of the layers i deleted (all of the frames). there were some light areas that i wanted to fill, so i opened a psd file for one of the fotoinspired edge templates. i clipped my photo to those layers and filled in the light areas. then i started work on the background. when i was done i re-sized the entire image and centered it on the page. to finish i added artstrokes and splatters around the image and added a title.
ETA: in response to Heather's question ... each fotoinspired edge template is made up of 4 or 5 layers. in this case, i used two of the layers from one of the templates in set no.2. i do re-size the layers to fit the places on the page where i want coverage. then i clip my photo to the layers. for this page, i re-seized the layers to fit over the woman. i wanted more depth of color in that area of the page.
