A Day in Point Loma

Point Loma is a seaside community within San Diego that is a hilly peninsula with gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean on one side, and San Diego on the other. It also houses Rosecrans Cemetery, two military bases, two light houses, and a national monument. I created this page for a co-worker of mine (trying to create a book for her).

The Process: I love starting a layout with one of Annas template. I used one of two templates in the pack, but moved things around a bit to balance out the photos on the page. I used 3 ArtsyKardz. One attached to a framed photo mask. Once attached, I added word strips along one side. The second artsyKard was used for the Page title. I added various images to the card as well as the words. The word POINT was a hollowed font. To help it stand out, I placed a layer under the text layer, and used a solid brush to paint a thin, squiggly line along the center of each letter. I then used Gaussian blur to soften it, making it a bit transparent, allowing the items underneath to show through. The third was the square 6 x 6 ArtsyKard. To this ArtsyKard I attached a photo. I wanted most of the photo to show, so I attached copies of the same photo to various layers of the 6 x 6 ArtsyKard, playing with the blend modes. Now that the photo mats were filled with either photos or ArtsyKards I placed a solid paper behind, and to it I added the ScriptTease Overlay, recoloring it to the soft yellow. I then began adding elements to the area of the template that was not filled in. I also added a few elements to the lower right of the photo in the lower right of the layout, adding a tag with the date. I used Urban Stitchez to hold down the word strips, WordArt to one of the photos, along with a Warm Glow.

***thanks for looking***
Love how you cropped the photos! Gorgeous layout; my eyes went to "Loma" and I wondered where you got it the lettering...Holy cow! You made tiny little lines in every letter? Hope your coworker appreciates all the work you are putting in this book, it is going to be GORGEOUS!
eta: OK it was "Point" not Loma lol! going to find that font..

You are a master at making the photos shine! There are so many photos yet the page does not look too busy.
