Journaling reads: I love it when Duster rolls. He looks like he is really enjoying himself - that it is something that makes him feel better. He will walk around looking for the best place to roll, sniffing the ground as he walks, and then when ready, he lowers himself to his knees and then once on the ground, he flops to the side, making gentle grunting sounds as he hits the ground. He usually rubs his side by moving from side to side, moaning with each movement, and then when ready, he thrusts his legs up toward the sky hoping that he has done so with enough force that he can roll over to his other side. This is not usually accomplished in the first try, so he starts again on his side, thrust his legs up again. Typically, if he cannot flip himself over by the third try, he gives up, as I am sure it takes a lot of energy to do this. When done, he hoists himself back up to his feet, and then with head down, shakes his whole body, creating a big dust storm. Then he is ready to RUN!!! I love watching him rolls, and if I have my camera, I almost always take a complete series of shots.

The Process: I began with one of Annas Artsy Papers from ArtPlay Palette Ocean Cove. I added the photos, masking out all but the horse, and portions of his shadow and dirt at the base of the horse. I then began adding transfers under the photos adding the neutral tan transfers in the lower half and the blue and white transfers in the upper half of the page. I added the lace textures along with 2-6 x 6 ArtsyKardz, freezing and thawing the different layers on the Kardz to work best with the masked photos. The lace textures on the ArtsyKards had its contrast bumped up by using curves. I added the Chevron paper, masking areas, and using blend mode Multiply, so that only hints of it showed through. I also added the harlequin brushes along the left side, using blend mode divide, making it white, but also lowered the opacity to soften it a bit. I added the die cut alpha, rotating the O, and gave it a soft shadow of only about 25% opacity. I added the various edge overlays, changing their colors to a soft brown, and then added the cinefilm overlay, making that a soft brown as well. I added the word art. I added the journaling in a custom path. I wanted the horse to stand out a bit more, but for some of the texture to show through as well, so I duplicated the 5 horse photos, and changed the blend mode to the bottom horse to Hard Light, and then keeping the top photo on the Normal blend mode, I lessened its opacity, so that the horse seemed to almost glow on the page.
