I'm a little late getting last week's regatta documented... Even though my son's boat finished second, it was a much bigger win for them than the previous week's first place showing as they beat their toughest local competition and it appeared the region's best program might even be within their reach. These guys were absolutely thrilled with this race!
Journaling reads: "Walter Mess Regatta. The Vienna Patch reported in a tight Mens First Varsity Eight race, the Madison Men were edged out of first place by just more than two seconds by regional power house St. Albans (DC) in a crowded field of sixteen boats. The sweetest victory for this crew was sailing past their cross-town rival, Thomas Jefferson, in a wicked sprint (photo shows our Stern-4 as we passed their bow). Top three finishes: 1) St. Albans 4:18:00, 2) Madison 4:20:65 and 3) Thomas Jefferson 4:23:67."

Process
I used APP EnRoute OverlayCircles4 as the template for the focal image. It didn't work well for me to clip my photo to it, so I placed my photo over the overlay, added a black layer mask, and then brushed in areas of the photo. Underneath the photo, I have two copies of the overlay (blending mode Subtract over Overlay). Beneath that is the APP City Limits Transfer11. I added several transfers and art strokes on top of the focal image and created a cluster of transfers and glows in the top left corner as a place holder for the journaling. I clipped APP City Limits Transfer4 to the title with a blending mode of Pin Light. Finally, I added some glows and a word label.
Thanks so much for looking!
