This picture was taken during a walk to the Palais des Papes in Avignon in southern France. The Palais des Papes is one of the largest and most important medieval Gothic buildings in Europe. Dominant Avignon a hill, it is one of the most famous palaces in the Christian world. This huge building, except for its historical value, is a perfect sample of European medieval Gothic architecture. It has been designated as World Heritage by UNESCO in 1995.
