brothers of the boat

It's rowing season again. I recently had my turn to chaperone the bus ride to the river and took the opportunity to take some photos of my son's boat as they were launching for practice. It was a Friday afternoon, and they were all so happy to be there, doing what they were doing - almost giddy. With the recent theme of Anna's ArtPlay Palette Siblings, I was struck by how much these guys have become brothers - brothers of the boat.

I was initially inspired by how Anna used her APP Savor Artsy Paper to make the overall design of the layout here https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=280024&title=savor-this-moment&cat=500 . The horizontal line reminded me of their oars laying across the dock as they were getting ready to push off.

Process

I started with Savor ArtsyPaper3 as my base. I added in Transfer 2, flipped it horizontally, and clipped my photo to it (photo was made black & white and had a Levels adjustment layer applied to make it more contrasty). To finish the main scene, I extracted the top section of Artsy Paper 6 using the Selection Tool and clipped another copy of the photo to it. Next, I layered Transfer 8 over the photo and clipped it to Transfer 2 and set the Blending Mode to Color Dodge. I added Transfer 1 to the lower left edge (blending mode Multiply) and flipped it. I added several Stained Glows to the top area of the layout - #6 (blending mode Color Burn), #1 (blending mode Color Burn), #5 (blending mode-Hard Light). #8 (blending mode Hard Light). I then added Savor Paint Overlay to the upper right (blending mode Linear Burn). Added the loopdaloop, "special bond" brush, title and Savor Brush 15 (colored green) to add a subtle inking effect to the title area.

Thanks so much for looking!
