This is a photograph of the Old School House in Bodie, California A gold rush ghost town. I love the bell on the top that I am certain they would ring to let the children know it was time to be in class. The process: It seems like a simple layout, but I kept messing with the photo and all the brushwork, and masked layers that it became a very complicated piece. I started with the background paper, and then placed the photograph in a frame. I tried different blend modes for the photo, and ended up with 3 photograph layers, each using different blend modes and different opacities, with some areas being masked out to get the look in the photo. I placed behind it a layer of color, which was also blended, behind that I used some transfers with color, which was blended as well all very subtle. The frame had the background paper attached to it, but its color was changed slightly. I then inserted a crumbled paper, which was masked out except at the two corners of the photos this was blended as well. I added the brushwork and the clock as well as the horizontal line texture which is actually a piece of textured paper from Annas new Siblings Palette, I placed it behind the photo, and blended it, also changing the opacity. What would I do without Photoshop!!! Lol. Once done, I brought it into RadLab and played around with their photo presets.
