I have always loved this photo of my two younger sisters. It brings back some very happy memories.

Journaling reads: In the fall of 1969, Toni and Margaret both received Banana Bikes for their birthdays, which were 2 days apart, Toni on November 2nd, and Margaret On November 4th. I remember how thrilled they were to have their very own bikes, and the fact that they had the long handlebars and the long seat was even better. I remember how they rode up and down the driveway, and around our street. They no longer had to walk every place, they could ride in style. They spent many hours decorating their bikes with streamers hanging from the handlebars, and reflectors, etc., and how happy was Cookie running beside them as they rode.

The Process: I began with a plain background paper, and added to it various transfers from Annas new kit ArtPlay Palette Siblings, creating a linier page design. To the top portion of the background paper I added the cloud transfer, blending it and reducing its opacity. I attached the photograph to the frame from the same kit, changing the photos color to the sepia tone. I added a cluster of elements near the photo, including a date tag, and the bike sign, as well as some bicycle brushwork from Anna ArtPlay Palette Bicycle, and then added the journaling to the left of the photo. Although I consider this a heritage page, I wanted to keep it somewhat informal, so I added both the scripttease overlay and the scalloped distressed edge overlay, changing the color to work well with the pale yellow/browns found in the layout. For the same reason, I created a title using both upper and lowercase letters. I finished off with the BigWord sisters (keeping it to the left side of the page) and the LoopDaLoop, with the flower at the end, again changing its color to the pale yellows found within the page.
