I have to admit that I didn't use a whole lot of technique in this page. I rather just relied on this single background paperie from the AP to guide my design choices and do most of the work.
It provided me with a natural place for my photo and then with the loop da loop guiding the eye downward--I knew that I wanted to create a secondary focal point for it to lead to. So I enlarged the compass included in the AP and added a nice heavy shadow to give it a real sense of depth on the page. Then I positioned my title near the end of the loop da loop as if to point to it and finally I rendered my journaling so that it flowed into my title and highlighted words throughout to add importance and impart meaning in my story.
