Winter Mood

I like very much the freehand painting technique in PostworkShop used on my latest page, too. When I create a painting, I always use a sketch layer on it to highlight the small details. I usually edit portraits or photos of people, so I wondered how does this technique work on a winter landscape. As I hadn't got any proper winter photos, I searched for a freely usable photo on Wickimedia Commons.

I used three filters: on the bottom the freehand painting, then I added a black colored sketch with 60-70% opacity and Linear Burn layer style (feel free to play with the properties!) At the end I created an other sketch layer in white color (100% opacity and Normal layer style) to simulate the snow on the buildings and trees. This white sketch layer was on the top and I displaced it a little bit in order not to hide the black sketch layer.

Anna's ArtPlay Palette Snow Fun looked the perfect choice to express the winter mood and with the help of a Christmas FotoBlendz the photo faded into the background paper.

Although it's not my own photo and I've never been to this place, the winter mood in my imagination is absolutely like the one on this page.
