The Train Depot at Ozark Alabama

I am visiting my mom and dad this week, and crazy me, couldn't leave home without my portable HD, so after downloading the trial version of Elements, had to scrap a page ;)

I seldom travel anywhere without my camera. Typically, I have more than one with me, this way, when Rachel sees something interesting, she will ask if she can use one as well. It give us two photographic minds to hopefully get a good shot. It also gives me the opportunity to snap a few of her as well.
The passenger depot used by Atlantic Coast Line Railroad for several decades, gave Ozark access to two passenger trains daily. Traveling to Montgomery, passengers could then travel to any destination in the country. Troops coming to Camp Rucker in World War II to fill the ranks of the 81st Division, the first infantry division to train at Rucker, came into the Ozark station, then were loaded on trucks and driven out to their first Army home.
Ozark's National Guard Unit, Hq. Co., 131st Headquarters Tank Battalion, boarded a troop train at this location, bound for Fort Knox, Ky. when they were called into federal service during the Korean War. Although it didnt look like any progress has been made in the renovation of the depot since it was saved from demolition, our hopes is that this depot will soon be restored to its original beauty.
