Okay, so the fact that I'm posting a Christmas-themed layout before Thanksgiving has come and gone violates one of my own longstanding rules: One must celebrate holidays in a serial fashion. Finish up with one before starting on the next. I have long felt that Thanksgiving is given short shrift in the celebration department, so while I know those who celebrate Thanksgiving will do so by cooking and eating a tasty meal, in our house we celebrate it with all of the gusto and trappings as we do every holiday. (Hmmm, I should post some pages about my Thanksgiving decorations, but I digress...) My house is currently decorated--seriously decorated--for Thanksgiving, complete with pumpkins, scarecrows and turkeys, and we won't put up our first Christmas decoration until the first weekend of December. (I still remember as a little girl that we didn't put the tree up until Christmas Eve, but I digress again...anyone else remember that, or have I just seriously dated myself?
)
So, having said all of that, I will now climb down off my soap box and post my first-ever digital Christmas card and my first Christmas page of the Christmas 2012 season. And what, you might ask, prompted this gross violation of the rules? Oscraps!
While romping through the forums, I found LaurieW's thread, in which she proposes a Christmas card exchange among Oscrap members. I signed up in the nick of time ("nick?!" I think there's a Santa Claus pun in there somewhere, but I digress...) and have already received my list of recipients. Well, this just got me all kinds of excited, but also mildly terrified--I need to generate ~16 cards by early December--so I thought I should start practicing. I actually started off making an entirely different kind of page, and eventually got to the themes of holiday joy and discovery. Not sure how a penguin fits in, but he wandered onto the page and so I had to keep him.
Of course, now that I've posted this, I'll have to come up with something new for my Christmas card recipients. Poor me, having to spend more time playing with Photoshop, playing with Christmas supplies! How will I bear it?
I know it's early days yet, but to all ya'll who celebrate Christmas, have the best one ever!
