Being the history buff that I am, I wanted to find out more about this little church, but have not found out as much as I would have liked. I did found out that it was built in 1954, to serve a large geographic area, but in the 1980s, when the congregation was entirely from Mammoth Lakes, they moved their services to the town instead. In 1987, the Sierra Nevada Aquatic Research Lab, in need of a lecture hall, purchased the church for that purpose. It is often referred to as a landmark - simply known as The Little Green Church, and the subject of many a photograph taken by visiters to the area. This was my first opportunity, and hopefully it will not be my last.
Journaling reads: Heading east-bound on 395, so content and relaxed with the drive, when I see the little green church, I slowly sigh, knowing we are minutes from our destination.
