Wicked Weather

This is my third layout about the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy. There will be a few more. I am driven by my deep connection to New York. I live in northern California now, but grew up in Manhattan and Queens, New York. My 92 year old mother lives alone in the family house in Queens. When I went to school there, we were taught the importance of New York in the history of this nation. We were taught its importance in culture, politics, industry and
business. My parents made sure we visited every part of the state, in the city and "up state." I believed New York was the best, most important, most exciting place in the whole world. Stunned and deeply saddened, I compulsively search the internet for images of the damage to my home state and familiar nearby areas.

Oh, Judy.I feel your deep heart connection with New York through the words and images. The texture and masking really capture the swirling wickedness of it all. Hugs.

Amazing photo. The texture of this paper is perfect for the storm! I love the wicked and was hoping it was a font!

beautiful page. i love the background you chose. looks like it was touched by the storm. i hope your mom is doing well.

I hope your expressions help you to come to grips with the devastation of the storm. It is indeed heartbreaking! I too have connections and completely understand!

The storm has stunned us - your layouts are deeply-felt reminders of what has happened.

I hope your mother is doing well, Judy.
I can 'feel' your concern in the 'wicked' design.
Love the red .

oh, Judy. i can SO relate to a disappeared childhood city. your Sandy pages have been powerful and sad. i hope your mom "weathered the storm" with no damage. the fire in Queens was horrifying.

Stunning and powerful page! Love the background paper and touches of red colour! This storm has impacted so many lives...I too have many family members in New York!!
