Don't Wake the Beast

A little scrap therapy here....

Meet the Beast - aka my daughter - and her bad behaviour at bedtime. Sadly though, she is not a toddler but almost a teen and still not brilliant!

Journaling reads:

The rules of engagement were clear, yet the Beast continued to break them every night. In fact, the Beast re-wrote the rule book leaving the humans floundering and causing them to fail miserably. They felt themselves sinking under the strain of dealing with the Beast's nightly antics. Drugs didn't work, nor did alcohol, for the humans, that is, not the Beast. Despite all their best efforts and ingenious obstacles, the Beast continued to rise to every new challenge the humans threw down.

This demoralised the humans so much that they became very wary about taking this journey again, and when they did they waited in trepidation to find out if a second Beast might join the fray. Thankfully, what popped out turned out to be an angel, with a desire to please and obey the rules. And the humans were so relieved, feeling that this was their due after putting up with the Beast for so long.

Time did eventually work its magic on the Beast, taming the stubborn creature and bending its will. And today, the Beast is much more accommodating and although time keeping has never been the Beast's best quality, Ginny really is much better about going to and staying in bed. Shame its taken 12 long, frustrating years, with so many tears on both sides.
