Poi refers to both a style of performance art and the equipment used for engaging in poi performance. As a performance art, poi involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmical and geometric patterns. Poi artists may also sing or dance while swinging their poi. Poi can be made from various materials with different handles, weights, and effects (such as fire).Poi originated with the Mori people of New Zealand, where it is still practiced today. Poi has also gained a following in many other countries. The expansion of poi culture has led to a significant evolution of the styles practiced, the tools used, and the definition of the word "poi." Last year in December my daughter learned in after-school-childcare how to perform with Glowball-poi. They put up this fantastic light show for the parents on a cold December evening, but it was spectacular. I took a lot of photos but when I watched them on my PC they looked like black stains with a few colours in it. Only by playing with the light and all the other features you can adjust, did I get these wonderful images.
I used an Anna Aspnes template to display my pictures and filled in the transfers and overlays with papers from Brandy Murry's Holiday Magic collection. The alpha comes from Angie Hinksmans True Romantics kit and a put a picture above it in overlay.
