Family portrait of my grandfather (age 12, upper left) who helped his mother deliver her fresh-baked bread to local grocers after his college-educated father left the familyonly to start another family. According to my mother, a couple decades after deserting his first family, her father's father requested a visit with the grandchildrenwhich was denied.
What a sad story. And I'm thinking this must have happened a lot more than one would guess. Something similar happened with two families in my past, and with the family of my BFF. Anyway, it is a wonderful photo, and your treatment of it is exquisite. We DO do this to record the history we know.
what a beautiful photo! and what a sad story. this must have been easy to do back then. my husband has a similar story in his background. life too tough? just walk away. courage is right. women rule.
