Journaling reads: My Fiat 124 Spider. How I loved that car. It was my first, (and only), convertible. While in college I decided I had to have one. My boyfriend and I searched for the perfect car and although we were all set to buy a 1972 Triumph Spitfire, the seller backed out at the last minute. We then found this spider. When I bought it, I didnt know how to drive a standard transmission, and I remember how tough it was getting it home, because I knew if I had to stop, I would not be able to engage the clutch and get it into first gear - so I timed it so I could rolled through all the traffic lights on green, and I am guilty of rolling a stop sign or two so I could stay in 2nd gear. It had a top that could be put down while still in the drivers seat, and I made good use of it, especially in the hot and muggy nights. I even had a roll bar installed for safety. My boyfriend had a white 1970 Spider, and having watched him redo his brakes, I then did my own, without anyones help, although someone did come by to help, and I told him I needed none!!! I am sorry to say that its life was short-lived as I didnt know the previous owner had covered up, and repainted body damage due to the salt that Ohio puts on the roads in the winters. The car was all rusted out within the year, and beloved convertible was sold for parts.
