my journaling reads:
I took music lessons from the age of 11, until I was 18. Yet despite many opportunities, theres not a single photo showing my musical prowess! I played the violin [badly] for just 1yr, which was blessed relief for everyone! I took piano lessons for 5yrs & actually became quite good, though I drove everyone nuts with my rendition of Fur Elise, which I played over & over again! My final foray into music was playing the viola, which I did for 2yrs. This was nowhere near as cringe inducing as my violin playing had been, but that was purely because the resulting music was in a lower register, and sadly had nothing to do with any improved musical abilities on my part!
