I was in Old Colorado City (original Colorado Springs downtown) yesterday (photo class, farmer's market, a little clothes shopping) and on my way out, I topped a hill and saw this. Of course, I took a few photos.
Text is from the news yesterday: For the west side of Colorado Springs and into the Ute Pass area, wildfire danger became a sudden reality Saturday afternoon when the Waldo Canyon fire flared up around noon.
The threatened area is quite a bit north of my placebut our church is in the mandatory evacuation zoneconcernedpraying for safety for the fire fighters and for those residents who evacuated or still need to evacuate.
Fire is still ragingfrom today's news: The 2,500-acre Waldo canyon fire has been burning all night, giving an orange glow to the city's west side as trees torched like fireworks.
