"Almost every day we would go out for a long walk. We'd see the changes each season brought to our town: flowers, green grass and trees in Spring, crunchy golden leaves in the Fall. We'd sit on our bench in the park, rest at the fountain or, go to the Marina to see the boats. We'd see our neighbors, their dogs and cats.
Of course, we had to stop at places you'd marked to find out whether they needed refreshing. A whole lot of
enthusiasm, energy and stamina were bundled into your ten pound body.
Now, you are nearly seventeen. Your eyes are cloudy. You don't hear me, the mail man or the delivery person.
Your limbs tremble when we step off the curb. You hesitate before attempting to jump up on the sidewalk after crossing the street. Our long walks are now short.
I will always be by your side to walk with you as long as you can, give you lots of treats and love you for all of
your days."
