I was going to go to try to find a sheep to photograph, then I remembered this photo.
Journaling: For a few years, we had two Madagascar hissing cockroaches as pets. The kids named them Ben and Simone. Don mail ordered them. Ben and Simone were vegetarians whose diet consisted of some sort of corn meal. They didnt fly, or bite, or do much of anything except hissssss when they were excited. I could not get used to holding them. As you can see, Olivia had no problem in that area. Ben met an unfortunate end after I treated our dog with an anti-flea medication. He went into respiratory failure. Simone survived and, thereafter, had special accommodations when I treated any of our other pets with flea stuff. In the end, Simone died twice. One cold morning I thought she was dead and was prepared to bury her. Fortunately, I couldnt get to it right away and after the day warmed up she came back to life. Thank goodness I didnt make the mistake of prematurely burying her! Simones second death was her last. We buried her in the backyard. Olivia dug her up a week or so later and was very upset to see that part of Simone was still there. She told me that Simone must not have gone to Heaven. She was beside herself but agreed it would be best to rebury what was left of Simone. The next time Olivia checked, all of Simone was gone (sometimes, even Heaven needs a little help) and Olivia was happy that Simone had finally gone to Heaven. While the kids talked about it, we never were home to any more cockroaches (that I know of, anyway).
