AnnaLift(3.30.12-4.5.12) The House My Father Built

I have really been enjoying Margos pages. This one chosen for this weeks AnnaLift https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=258555&title=x3-1953&cat=all is so lovely. It pushed me to create a page I have been wanting to create for some time. Thank-you for the fabulous inspiration.

Journaling reads: What little I knew about my father I am almost certain that he spent a great deal of time deciding just where to build his home. He chose a lot right across the street from a park, one which would have minor league baseball games played all summer. He chose land in the town that his grandmother lived - just a mile down the road. This lot was just half a mile up the hill from Savin Rock, with its great summer fun, right by the seashore, plus close enough to school for us to walk. He enlisted all his family and friends to build his home - the perfect 2 story starter home of brick, with a fenced back yard for the kids to play.

Anthony and Margaret with young daughter Sharon posing on the front porch of their home. I love this photograph - my dad with a big smile on his face, and my mom and sister looking in toward him, looking so happy and content. This was probably taken about 1954, before I was born. We would live in the house until 1964, when our family grew to include four daughters. We then built a new home and moved to Woodbridge. Like most first homes, this home holds such a special place in my heart, knowing that it was built with my fathers loving hands, makes those memories extra special.

***Thanks for Looking***
Exquisite! Joanie, I LOVE this LO from top to bottom -- from the beautifully processed photos to the classy design to the modern framing of the photos and touches of red! Your title work is simply fabulous, and I love the sweet story behind the LO. One of my favorite touches is the blending of the dove to make it look embossed. What memories this must hold for you ... and what a handsome man your dad was. BRILLIANT!

Beautiful, beautiful layout - such memories are a treasure for you and for your whole family!! :0)

Charming house, a treasure of a family photo, and a very creative title! Joanie, I really enjoyed reading your thoughts and insight about how your Father chose the house location!

Very beautiful page. Love the story behind the pictures.
The background is precious: looks like a wall of an old house.
