This is page 2 of a National Ski Patrol page I did last week https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=257945&title=ski-patrol&cat=all. With my dd a toddler, I stopped volunteering, but my dh continued to volunteer for about another 5 years (7 in all). This page is to document his going on to become a Certified Patroller, which is very prestigious, as very few volunteer patrollers take the time and effort to become certified. The middle 3 photos are of the snow forts/caves they made as they spent the weekend living and sleeping in the snow. (TOO COLD FOR ME!!!)
Journaling reads: After volunteering for the National Ski Patrol for a few years, Ron decided he wanted to become a Certified Patroller. Certified Patrollers are usually Pro Patrollers, but Ron, being a person that likes a challenge, decided he wanted to be one of the few hundred patrollers that have become Certified. Certification entails learning additional skills and higher level testing in Skiing, Risk Management, Hill Safety, Medical, Toboggans, Rope Rescue, Avalanche Science and Evaluation, Avalanche Rescue, and Explosives for use in Avalanche Control. Part of the testing required a weekend stay in the snow where they had to build snow houses and live the weekend in them. Ron enjoyed it immensely.
