Challenge # 6 of 7 for Oscraps Birthday Bash
Journaling:
I feel as though I need to clarify alot of things with you right now sweetie, at this
time in your life. Your 9, almost 10, and things have been a real battle between us
for the past couple of months. We seem to be in a constant power struggle, it's a
completely normal struggle, which I fully understand, but it makes me sad. I'm
sad because I know you feel picked on, like we are always yelling at you, nagging
and such. It's a battle from both sides really, Dad and I are trying to help you to
learn how to take responsibility for your stuff, to help out a little with day to day
chores, and you really aren't thinking that's what you would like to be doing. You
think it's ok to sit and watch cartoons all day instead of helping out. Which in the
grand scheme of life is it a terrible thing? Not at all, but when it means you aren't
even trying to be "apart" of the family chores and responsibilites it makes it hard,
to be patient with you. All of this aside though, the one thing that never changes
though is how much we love you. Which really is all that matters, no matter what
the challenge, what the battle, we still love you. Yes, we may have yelled, and in
all honesty will likely yell again, but it NEVER CHANGES OUR LOVE FOR YOU EVER.
You are a great daughter, Nellie, I love you more than life that fact always remains
the same. I know that you are going to be great at anything you decide to do! You
have a huge heart, your compassion for those less fortunate is beautiful to see, you
have an insane love for animals and your mind is always filled with questions seek-
ing an answer. Don't lose any of these qualities my darling, these are the things
that make you exactly who God intended you to be. You are a strong willed girl,
with a desire to do right and I love you for it. But could you not ever once in a
while find your own SOCCER SHOES or DANCE TIGHTS?? Love you Nellie!!
