AnnaLift-(2.10.12 - 2.16.12) A Remarkable Life

I have been staring at this photo for weeks, wanting to somehow scrap it. This week's AnnaLift gave me the inspiration.

Journaling reads: I am learnings so much about my husbands Aunt Jeanne that I didnt know about her when she was alive. From family stories, her papers and journals, I found out she was so much more than what I knew about her. Having lost her dad as a young girl, she left Chicago with her mom and older sister to come to L.A. She attended school and graduated college. she thought she would never be able to buy a home, and when she did, she was so very proud. You can see that in the grin on her face standing behind the speed limit sign on the street near her home. I try to imagine how excited she must have been, and what an important milestone that was. She supported and cared of her mom until her death. Quite a woman. She went after what she wanted in life, when after college, she sought out her dream job at American Airlines, interviewing, but not getting the job, she corresponded with executives there, seeking out the skills she needed for this job, and after more than a year she was hired, and worked there until she retired 50 years later. She traveled the world because of this job - which she adored. Places like Europe, Russia, China - so many countries, and then when she retired, went back to school and obtained her masters degree.
I am sorry to say that I learned more about this woman after her death than I knew while she was alive, and it has taught me the lesson that everyones life is pretty remarkable, but I truly wish I had learned these things while she lived, and was told these stories by her, instead of learning of them second hand, after her death. Quite remarkable indeed. I asked more questions now of the people in my life as I believe we all have remarkable lives, with stories waiting to come out when asked the right question -
Yes - quite remarkable indeed!
