Its complicated, the way this photo makes me feel.
This is my family (my brother is there but not shown). This was taken at our our family reunion in 2009, the first time my siblings have been together in 30 years or more. we are all such strangers really, bound by my mother. There is love there, I think, but it is buried deep under grudges and hurt feelings and mistrust. We are not close, we do not keep in touch , but we do call if there is a major incident, a death or serious illness. Families are complicated. We are a tangled jumble of feelings, adults who used to be childhood friends who have lost their way. Its sad to me, to not have the TV family I had dreamed of having, but that isnt my reality. I am the youngest of seven but mostly I am an only child, taking care of the one who took care of all of us.
