I found this photo of my grandparents from 1918 and started reminiscing about the wonderful summer vacations we grandchildren spent at their Santa Cruz mountain ranch. Strangely, I don't have any good photos of those days, but do have these wonderful photos from my grandmother.

Journaling: These are my grandparents, Lenore and Al Turney (circa 1918). My grandfather fancied himself a cowboy, but he looks pretty dapper in this photo with his bow tie and straw boater. I love my grandmothers floppy hat and long coat flowing in the breeze. They raised three children in Oakland, CA but retired to a ranch in Santa Cruz where my grandfather could be a cowboy again. Visiting my grandparents on the ranch was the highlight of many summer vacation days, enjoying the outdoors, the animals and being pampered by doting grandparents.
