Christmas 1955

Christmas 1955 was quite different for us. This is the first long vacation we had other than summer trips to the shore as beach vacations were called for those of us from PA. Miami Beach Florida was our destination. I can recall thinking it would be just like the 1st Christmas! Well, Miami had no camels but it did have palm trees! I bravely picked up dead fish as well as shells from the beach the day after a storm. I was starting to regret having had my hair cut as it was thick and had a mind of its own. Keeping bangs down would always be an issue if I tried to have them. I loved that white blouse with my red shorts and now realize how often I have tried to subconsciously find a similar one as an adult. I felt totally sophisticated with my matching white sunglasses. Sadly, we never took another long vacation but this one opened my eyes to travel!

Thanks for looking!
I love how you are scrapping your photos from your youth- not just the photos, but the photos and great journaling
