Trying to get my dh to recall much of anything is hard. Maybe he was always a Big Picture person and not concerned about the details.
Christmas 1942?43? Judging by his age in this photo, my husband thinks its about then. He doesnt recall where it is so it could be his parents house in MD, or they could have sold that & moved in with extended family. His father George worked for the SEC & was transferred to Philadelphia during the war years, making it impossible to maintain 2 households. There are two sets of Lionel trains but neither was a Christmas gift. The bicycle handle showing must have been for his sister who would have been about 12 at this time. While he as no recollection of the truck/bus he said that there would have been few presents at Christmas, usually one big thing and maybe some small ones. They did always have a full sized fresh tree but no tinsel on this tree! That chair remained in his family until we gave it to his daughter when she bought a house recently. Some things continue...
