Christmas 2007 was the last hysterical Christmas. We had tons of gifts and it was Christmas dinner at mom and dad's and everything was so hysterical I almost died. Nowadays our Christmases are much more calm. The only thing I miss from these hysterical Christmases is our own tradition with the gift lottery. All gifts had been given a number, and we had written the numbers on small pieces of paper, and placed in a bowl. We opened gift all day. First John took a piece of paper from the bowl, then he located the gift with that number, read who it was for and the verse. The verse was almost always terrible and it was part of the game to write as bad verse as possible. It was lots of laughter. When the gift was opened we oh-ed and ah-ed. When we had opened a few gifts, we had a break. Played a board game or watched a movie. And ate and ate and ate. Then we took a turn with the gift lottery again. On this photo John is opening the first gift of the day. We have a long day of Christmas celebrations ahead of us.
