Each Christmas we have a traditional meal of a hangi, but we have a modern way of cooking it. All the food is put into a cooker and steam with a little manukau shavings, it takes around 4 hours and is absolutely delicious. It is my favorite way of cooking as no one is in the kitchen, whilst the party goes on.
my DH and I have actually eaten hangi when we visited Hawaii and the Hawaii cultural center when has representation of all the Island cultures in the Pacific. It was yummy! gorgeous page! love all the photos! The perfect way to cook (at least IMHO) by letting some thing else do the cooking for you
