i've been wanting to do a DNA page for some time, and this challenge gave me the poke i needed to get going. several years ago i had all the pertinent relatives' DNA analyzed as a participant in the National Geographic Genographic Project, so that i could know the deep history of the genetic lines of my mom's male and female line and my dad's male and female line. i had the same thing done for my husband's family. i wanted my kids to have this info. also, because my daughter is Korean, i had her DNA done, too, so that she'd have all the info. what a fascinating experience this was. for me, surprises all over the place.

my husband was pretty boring--generally Cro-Magnon all across the board. i, however am from all over the map, figuratively and quite literally!!my mom's dad is the genetic group of those few brave souls who crossed the Bering Straits into North America and became most of the Native populations of The Americas. My mom's mom's deep genetic history was in Finland, which was a big surprise. my dad's mom was in one of the four genetic groups that were the founding of European Jewry. my dad's dad belongs to the horsemen of the steppes of Central Asia. (Less of a surprise. he looked the part totally.)

so, here's my "numbers" Anna Lift. it was fun to get my SELF down on paper, at least at a molecular level!
