I captured this shot of my son as he sat on the school bus ready to head off to his first day of Kindergarten way back in 1996. If you have experienced this moment then you can relate to the memories.

Journaling-
-I remember not wanting the first day of school to arrive.
-I remember wondering where could the last five years have gone.
-I remember the fun we had shopping for your Superman book bag.
-I remember Alyssa giving you 'big sister advice' about riding the school bus.
-I remember you asking me a hundred times that morning, "Is it time yet? Is it time yet?" as you kept watching out the window for the bus.
-I remember we practiced tying your new white tennis shoes. (we had lots of practicing to do yet.)
-I remember being so excited for you, but I also remember the knot in my stomach.
-I remember waiting at the bus stop with two other little neighbor friends and kids screaming with excitement when the bus rounded the corner 'THE BUS IS COMING!'
-I remember three mothers with cameras clicking away and feeling that same knot in their stomach I was feeling.
-I remember one last hug and kiss.
-I remember a sweet and kind bus driver who greeted and treated her precious cargo like it was her own.....she must have recognized a look in those three mother's faces.
-I remember after lots of preparation and getting you ready for this moment that I was not prepared for this moment and a five-year-old boy in the window of the school bus flashed a happy face and he somehow knew his mom needed reassurance about 'letting go' and that it's all OK mom!!
