This is the left page of a two-pager.
What do you do when the only photos you have of a place and time are, well, awful? In my case I keep a "I Can't Bear to Throw These Away...Yet" folder and then hope inspiration comes to me. The photos on these two pages are such photos. They were taken while I was on vacation in NYC with my BFF. New York City is glorious! Unfortunately, our camera skills weren't, so our shots of Times Square at night are simultaneously overexposed and underexposed (and until then I would not have thought that possible, but I digress...), and with no real focal points. We were just snappin' away, hoping something would turn out. Well, not so much, but with a little blending and a little photo processing, I've made something I can live with. I know these pages are a bit busy, but (a) that's me!
and (b) I was trying to capture the frenetic energy of Times Square on a summer night. Not sure I entirely succeeded, but at least now I have something I can put in my travel album.
Journaling (which can be found on the right page) reads:
"Times Square, our last stop of the day, was everything I thought it would be. Even at 10:00 p.m. on a Sunday night, it was so alive! So vibrant! The lights were dazzling, the crowds were everywhere, with the laughter and the chatter of the people drowning out the constant background of honking horns and backfiring buses. I was amused by how many cameras I saw, and as we were all taking photos, I wondered in how many photo albums I would inadvertently end up."
The two pages together look like this:
