Thanks for the compliment. To a bookworm like myself, that compliment means a lot. I taught Grades 5 and 6 in public school, then later became a private tutor. My favourite subject to teach is literature, whether English or French (I'm bilingual and taught what Canada calls "French Immersion" which is half days English, half days French).

Books are one of my favourite things and I love to discuss them endlessly. I truly believe in the power of words. It boggles my mind sometimes to think that letters become words, which become sentences which can change the way people think, even change the world. Incredible!

One of my pet peeves is how technology (Blackberries and such) have reduced communication to a series of codes that require a translator just to understand. I read the results of an experiment recently that tested teenagers' communication skills and the results were shocking. They don't know how to make small talk at all because when they text they just get to the point with no introduction. And their spelling and grammar is atrocious. When I see people texting in inappropriate settings or texting constantly, I seriously have to hold myself back from saying something. It just drives me bonkers! Anyways, thanks for the compliment. I really appreciate it.
