The Noughties

Here's my entry for the Digi Dare #215, to scrap the last decade, and I know I did a LO using similar products just the other day, but I really do love Joanne's newspaper clippings - and Linda's LO Save the Clippings https://ozone.oscraps.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=203683&title=save-the-clippings&cat=702.

But I figure the journaling is a bit on the small side! If you can be bothered, here's what it says:

As another decade passes, this paper believes the readers have a right to know just what Selena has been up during the Noughties, the highpoints on her radar and perhaps the odd low point too. Were sure you will agree that this decade has brought greater change to her life than any previous decade in her increasing long life. And so, dear reader, sit back and enjoy a whistle stop tour of Selenas life: 2000-2009.

1. 2000 spent most of the year pregnant, resulting in the birth of Ginny, who refused to feed or sleep for the next, well, 3 years!

2. 2001 spent most of the year chasing round after Ginny, and living the life of a SAHM, which, despite a shaky start was good fun, but did involve an awful lot of playgroups and singing The Wheels on the Bus.

3. 2002 spent most of the year pregnant, resulting in the birth of Paddy, who also fed badly but has been an excellent sleeper ever since.

4. 2003 spent most of the year chasing round after Ginny & Paddy, living the life of a rather tired SAHM and still singing The Wheels on the Bus.

5. 2004 - spent most of the year pregnant, resulting in the birth of Woody, who nobody noticed whether he slept well as they were too busy packing the house up. For the record, he fed badly cant remember about the sleeping bit.

6. 2005 moved to Singapore, which was wonderful, hot, exciting, scary, exotic, hot, fantastic, cheap, glamorous, hot, closer to Australia then shed ever been before, and it was hot. Still doing playgroups but point blank refused to sing anything.

7. 2006 one of the vagaries of life is poor health, which affected each member of the family during their time in Singapore. Selenas own affliction was post natal depression.

8. 2007 living the life of Riley in Singapore, getting in some exotic travel and spent her 40th birthday riding an elephant in Thailand as you do!

9. 2008 moved back to the UK, mores the pity, but finally got to have not 1 but 2 puppies join the household better than another baby, right?!

10. 2009 back in her old life, a decade later, with 3 healthy and relatively self sufficient, school aged children, hubby back in old job, dogs no longer ripping things up.

So, as you can see, Selena has returned to her old life, albeit older and one would hope wiser. A couple of major upsides to her new old life is that her children no longer wear nappies and her car insurance costs have dropped dramatically due to be classed as middle aged now. That was the decade that was. Watch this space for the next instalment in 2020, or thereabouts.
