note to myself

Scrap therapy ... eeek! Sorry!

Journaling reads:

the decision to return to work this year was a big one. Before having children, teaching was my calling and I was damn good at it! But my life took me down a completely different path. My family is now my life. So fast forward to ten years down the track, hubby working too hard, children all at school now - what is mother to do? Use her talent! I started off just doing casual relief but it quickly turned into permanent part time! Each of the four school terms has seen an increase in days - 2, 3, now 4 days a week! Yikes! How did that happen? How hard is it to be present for your family - husband and children; keep a tidy house, complete the necessary school work and have a life! Hard! Let me tell you! The children get some of my attention ... hubby even less! House is always tidy but semi clean, school work - well that has to be done or else I am left hanging high and dry so that is priority number one. And me? Well, it may be selfish but I have to do something for me to attain that workable equilibrium - so scrapping it is and as much of it as I can fit in given the time I have! Lucikly I am an insanely organised person - lists for everything even if it is being crossed out of one day and written into the next! But I have to learn to cut myself a bit of slack - I am doing the best I can for all concerned. So my kids might not always have my undivided attention, hubby is so understanding, house is livable, classes are planned and scrapping is my saviour! All is well - I have to learn that attitude is everything and I can do this! Time is proverbially of the essence and I am making the most of it and really proud of what I am achieviing.

Helen I think every working mother in your story recognizes. I also work part-time, happy because it means there is still some time for myself, my family and my hobbies. And you're not just wife and mother, you MUST occasionally think to yourself!

Fabulous page !!!!!

Wow Helen, you do a great job balacing that all! I wish I was just half as organised as you are, I'm a total disaster at organising, lol! Great page!!!

Great heartfelt journaling- gotta love scrap therapy- balancing is not easy- but most importantly you are taking time for you!

I want to shout out "You Go Girl!!!!" but somehow that doesn't sound right coming out of my mouth in my mild mannered English accent ... so I'll settle for saying "Good for you!" instead. That you achieve any of the above means you're winning, the fact that you achieve ALL of the above means you're an inspiration to many me included (and I dont have even half of the responsibilities you do!)

You do that much? Ummmm all I can say is you are one AWESOME person. Love this non photo layout.

Helen...looks like you are balancing all that's on your plate with a great "frame of mind!"

Wow....this journaling could have been mine just a few short years ago. Now the kids are grown and gone and scrapping has helped me get through the empty nest. House is still livable but not spic and span clean. Working full time still interferes with my scrapping time. I'm with you on the scrapping is my therapy!

((hugs)) Helen, I really appreciate your feelings! It's such hard work...and I'm glad that you have the outlet! It's so necessary!!!

I can go ahead and scream YOU GO GIRL!!!!
With my son not needing me as much as when he was little, I also find that scrapping is my therapy!!
Fantastic page Helen!!!!
